Post punk hero heading for the Black Country

A LEGEND of the post punk pop scene is set to bring his iconic work to life at The Robin 2 in Bilston.

Blondie drummer Clem Burke is teaming up with top tribute act Bootleg Blondie for a gig on Thursday January 24.

Burke, affectionately known as the Doctor of Rock, is one of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Drummers of All Time”.

He was not only sticksman for Blondie, Burke also played with a host of huge stars including David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend and The Ramones (under the name Elvis Ramone).

He is described as the backbone of Blondie’s sound and Bootleg Blondie are experts at recreating that sound.

They are the only Blondie tribute to play the legendary CBGB’s club in New York City before it closed in 2006.

Lead vocalist Debbie Harris appeared on two shows for BBC1 when she was picked out of 15,000 applicants to represent Debbie Harry on ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’ hosted by Paddy McGuinness which attracted an audience of 10 million viewers.
