Stereolab back with double re-release and summer visit to Brum

STEREOLAB combine a huge number of influences to create a sound which made them one of the most innovative bands of the 90s.

Founder members Tim Gane and Laetitia Sadler mix styles ranging from jazz and funk to vintage 60s sounds and European krautrock and Brazilian music.

Their live shows are more guitar driven than their studio work and although they were influential at the peak of their powers they did not find commercial success.

However the band has never faded into musical obscurity and in May will begin a campaign to reissue seven albums.

Their first two releases will be new versions of Transient Random Noise-Bursts With Announcements from 1993 and Mars Audiac Quintet from the subsequent year.

The albums have been remastered by Bo Kondren and will contain bonus tracks.

There will also be limited edition vinyl and CD releases.

Stereolab will be touring extensively throughout the year and will be live at Birmingham’s O2 Institute 1 on June 16.
